Not straightway though. We began the day with our last 5.30 alarm call. Game drives have been fun, informative and sometimes quite stunning. For our final one it was magical as we stopped on one of the highest points on the Reserve and silently watched the sun rise.

Unlike the last couple of days the cloud and misty rain had cleared and the sky was blue. The views were stunning. The only animal we didn’t see on this whole adventure was the leopard but they like to be elusive. This early morning we saw giraffes, elephant, zebra, warthogs, impala, baboons, white rhino and buffalo. We’ve seen them all before but it’s like seeing them for the first time. Safari has, without doubt, been a great highlight of this trip and we know how lucky we are to have had this opportunity.
Back for breakfast, packing was done the night before. It has been such a beautiful place to stay surrounded by such delightful people, many of whom came out to say goodbye.
Then we were back in our Urban Cruiser and off to Port Elizabeth, recently renamed Gqeberha (tricky one to pronounce !). Of course we turned right instead of left and ended up doing a U turn. An hour or so later we arrived at the airport and returned the car.
We took the plane to Durban and as we arrived the heavens opened! Reminiscent of our arrival in Cape Town. What is it about us and unseasonal rain. Do not expect us to be parading suntans when we get home!

Getting used to hotels with warning signs.
Anyway more about Durban tomorrow when hopefully we get out and about. For now it’s pizza, early night and a lie in – we love animals but time to give them a rest!
