Today was a real road trip, 270 miles all on one road. So we took the decision to break it up and visit a few places along the way.
First up was the General Patton Museum strangely set in a fairly deserted spot.

Yes, it’s our first attempt with the selfie stick! The museum was really interesting with many WW2 artefacts and a Tank museum attached. We looked at tanks outside too, bravely heeding the Beware of Rattlesnakes notice.

Next stop was a visit to this monument which is included in the American National Register of Historical Places. This is the tomb of Hi Jolly. He was a Syrian camel driver brought to the US in 1858 to drive camels for the US cavalry. Who knew!!!

Back on the road and into Phoenix and a delightful hotel, Royal Palms, once a 1920’s winter mansion and now a pretty Spanish inspired resort.

A closing drink as we prepare for tomorrow’s drive to the Barringer Meteor Crater and The Grand Canyon.
